Kashif Arif – A poet on Smule from LOC Kashmir

Introduction

Poetry is the heart of music. Here we are bringing a different talent from Smule who loves music. Link to his page is here https://www.smule.com/Rj_ . Here is what Kashi says about his own music and interests ” I m learning Indian classical music for four months from ‘Ustaad Imran Aziz Mian Qawwal’ son of famous Qawwal Aziz Mian Qawwal, practicing raagas nowadays. In childhood, I used to perform as Na’at Khawaan in school. Actually, Singing Naat is a core religious thing but I m not religious now. I do love to sing Ghazals, Qawali and have much interest in Sufi music as well in Indian music melodies I am inspired by and a die-hard fan of Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and started singing inspired by him. I am the biggest fan of Rafi Saab Lata Mangeshkar Ji, Sonu Nigam, and Arijit Singh.

Kashif loved Poetry all the more. That is Kashif Arif, a young friend to the blog page who is our guest this week. He lives in a region of India that is called Pakisthan Controlled Jammu/ Kashmir (for Kashif it is Azad Kashmir). He believes in an ideology that may not be acceptable to many who lives in mainland India. Yet, he is my brother I am sitting with his hand in hand to talk about all the troubles going on there. Listen to his poetry and life.

Kashif grew up in the Poonch division from the village of Khila. He believes in Marxism. “For all men, we have to struggle to get the daily bread. That struggle is there and in a larger struggle and the goal is to bring the Rule of Kashmiri’s wish to Azad Kashmir. Hope and dream are that his activism will bring peace and prosperity to his place.

Kashif is the youngest of a family where his Abbu is a school teacher and struggled to bring them all up. He has an older brother who did his Ph.D. from Europe and he himself is doing his Masters. He hopes to go abroad and study more like his older brother.

Growing up reading Urdu poetry and his dad’s great interest in books and such impart and sow seeds for his poetry writing. There is not much to gather, growing up, since there are many times living in LOC where always tensions between India and Pakistan over issues marred the normal day to day life. His inspirations are from his surroundings and experiences. It is about the sufferings of his fellow beings.

Here are a few poetries shared with us added from Kshif’s collection. He is planning on publishing a book of his poetry soon. Here enjoy some of his early works he shared with us half year ago.

  1. I know that Azad Kashmir or POK is not free or independent. But I don’t need to have a nickname of it but i will continue to call it Azad Kashmir till it becomes independent and we will continue to insist on it till it becomes true. I got to know when i saw my ID card where my place known as Azad Kashmir. 😁 But the fact is that Azad Kashmir or POK is not independent what so ever is happening inside Azad Kashmir or POK. Reality is in constitutional ,legal or jurisdict arrangements Azad Kashmir is not free or independent. So our struggle will continue until it will truly free. Long live struggle
