Harshita Singh A Singer అత్యద్బుతము (par-excellence) from Hyderabad.

HARSHITA SINGH

This is the third time we are featuring singers from Telugu Smule. Some one wrote to us last week asking us a very relevant question: the question was are we only choosing singers living abroad? Just to be clear, all the singers featured are not selected based on where they live, rather how good a singer he/she is.

Harhsita’s profile was suggested by some of her followers and few happened to be our peers behind the scene here. They were extremely vocal about her singing and how she is the best candidate for a feature. We do not have to write how good she is, but you all will hear for yourself.Without delay let us hear from Harshita herself about her singing.

She is a very young singer working for a MNC in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. Asked about her earliest memories of singing experience, she started her days from schooling, where she had classical singing classes. “I was enrolled in music classes from my first grade level itself”.  Her music teachers were always amazed and encouraged her because of her quick learning abilities.

She continued “I would go back home and practice what was taught at the school and that’s how my parents got to know that I can sing too. That is probably I think where my singing journey started.” Later around eight years of age she got enrolled to learn lessons in classical music from her then and current guru. Harshita is one singer in any feature so far, had been fortunate to be training under the same guru till date. She said her guru’s name is “Subbalakshami” to whom she is indefinitely indebted for all that she know about the music. Harshita gave numerous stage performances in and around Hyderabad. “The kind of encouragement I get from my Guru and my family is beyond words can describe”. She continued to give us more vivid pictures of her local music experiences and Harshita said a very profound statement which probably define her dedication to music. “Shilparamam / Shilpa kala Vedika” one of the most beautiful places at Hyderabad, was my second home; from where I would always get calls to sing for many events”.

For those who doesn’t know anything about how Hyderabad is different from many cities in other states and why such a place like Shilpa Kala Vedika is built, we like to spend some time how government and politicians can make a difference in the state of Art or Science (Shilpa Kala Vedika is a Terracotta (a type of clay used for making beautiful crafts) auditorium and convention center located in Hyderabad, Telangana for performing arts). The auditorium is the built during the Chandrababu Naidu government to provide a platform for singers like Harshita to perform freely. What a unique action from a government organization towards the encouragement of Arts and Music. Hyderabad is known for Politicians who bring money to the city for causes such as Science and Arts. (Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology, a Himalayan effort from the former Prime Minister of India Res. Narasimha Rao, who pumped in enormous amount of money to build an Institute to bring Molecular Biology to India; when many never even heard about Molecules). If one walks around this city today, can see number of MN Pharmaceutical firms established their headquarters in this city. It is a unique city with so many good things happening. Harshita belong to the new generation of youngsters who reap the intelligent investments made by many Politicians from the great state of A.P.

Coming back to Harshita and her singing, she said how she started singing on Smule. She found about this app from her colleague at work. She continued to describe her fond Smule experiences.

“I cant believe the fact that I have a handful of true friends with whom I’ll keep in touch all my life. It is such next level kind of connectivity. It is an amazing experience to sing with so many people and most importantly learn so much from each person whom I sing with.”

Her appreciation for the app is about her ability to sing in a variety of languages all the way from Nepali, Bengali, Kannada, Telugu, Assamese, Hindi and English; this is all reflected in her profile. She sang in many languages; she is highly collaborative; experiment a lot. Harshita said that her quick learning-grasping ability helped her sing and experiment in all types of songs on Smule.

“Singing for me was always a part of life and I’m glad to come across a platform like this to sing away my heart. It is an effort from my side that I don’t stick to any particular genre. It’s fun and learning experience in trying all the genres possible like ghazals, old songs, Peppy songs etc.”

Harshita joins our own best friend Yugal (have you heard him? he was in one of our feature here, if you missed it read it here) the man with the most amazing voice on Smule; singing a beautiful song “Moh Moh Ke dhage” with Harshita. It gives extra special happiness to include a Yugal song here after a long time. Absolute bliss both the singers, awesome job on a very beautiful melody.

Here Deepti Raman another best friend of ours joins Harshita in an awesome out of this world composition in raag Khamaj (Sawan beeto Jaye piharwa). One who is interested in music have to hear this Ustads Amanat Ali Khan and Fateh Ali Khan performance here at this link. What to say about this two ladies try at this classic. Listen to Harshita; she give an awesome singing effort with Deepti and make a new touch to this timeless classic. Also in recent times Shafqat Amanat Ali and his progressive Hindustani-pop rock band “Fuzon” sang a version of this, gave this song a reprise.

Harshita joins another very talented singer we noted for a long time ibo-pan. As Harshita mentioned in her interview she sings a variety of languages and thus she collaborate with a number of singers far and near. We think this collaborative attitude as her best attribute and her appreciation on her collabs. are not imposed by familiarity.

We leave you all with a song of Harshita where she joins her best friend Xcruciator (we don’t know why he call himself that; catchy? No matter, an absolutely hands down great singer on Smule). His name was suggested by many people for a feature before. Here they sings a Papon MTV unplugged version of a beautiful song Jiyen Kyon (Papon fans all the way here). A beautiful melody that have all the feelings of a lover who lost his love of life; just like Papon brought all that feel into his singing, these two singers brought all that feelings successfully as well. Enjoy this. Pritm, the music director in Hindi music industry is an awesome  experimental music director and this song by far one of his best.
